Introduction of Swords on the Battle field
When the warring clans of Japan fought, they fought with swords. But how were the sword made? Well let's talk about it. The very first samurai weapon was a staff called bo. It was a large strong stick. To make it you could cut down a bamboo tree or a small tree. It was very easy to make. The samurai learned to use this weapon with large skill to fight others. After the invention of the bo, swords were made, but an experienced bo fighter could defeat a sword fighter. The first swords were not very useful, they were usually sharpened piece of wood, but they evolved into the first good weapon, a katana. Katanas are long, single edged swords, that were made from metal. This improvement gave an edge on the battlefield, no pun intended. Swords continued to be improved. They became stronger, sharper, and more beautiful. Over hundreds of years, blacksmiths started decorating the swords and made them into beautiful pieces of art.
